Mesa Montessori operates as a non-profit, parent-owned corporation. The school has a non-discriminatory admission policy and is non-sectarian. We are honored to be affiliated with the American Montessori Society, a national organization which recognizes the schools commitment to the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori.
Mesa Montessori answers the need for outstanding Montessori curriculum and extended day programs for the children of our community. It is our mission to provide a safe, nurturing and enriching experience for you and your child. By maintaining a teacher-student ratio of 1 to 8, we can individualize the curriculum to the needs of each child.Montessori is an approach to education which emphasizes the potential of young children. We develop this potential by means of a prepared environment, utilizing specially-trained teachers and teaching materials. We create an environment which allows your child to discover knowledge for himself or herself.
The four major areas of the Montessori classroom are: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and Mathematics. In the Practical Life area, children refine their coordination and increase their concentration. The Sensorial materials encourage children to organize and classify abstract concepts like length, color, weight and texture. The Sensorial materials move gradually from the concrete to the abstract and are an indirect preparation for Mathematics. Language is emphasized in all areas of the classroom. Children learn the phonetic sounds of letters when they are introduced to Sand Paper Letters. The basic skills of math and language are presented with carefully controlled materials that isolate one difficulty at a time and allow your child to progress at his or her own pace with a continuous experience of success.
Mesa Montessori is a non-profit organization administered by a Board of Directors. Our Board has regular monthly meetings as required to effectively operate the school. Several committees also function under the Board’s direction. Any parent may run for a position on the Board or Chair a committee. Notices of all Board meetings are published in advance on the calendar and all parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
